Many people have asked how they could create an article, how-to, or an opinion piece for placement on
our on-line library. It is really easier that you think. We will help you with the spelling and the grammar, you stick with what you
do best, building and creating some of the most interesting Large Scale Model Railroads around.
We are interested in all aspects of Large Scale Trains. Don't feel that just because your are not writing about some 3,000 foot outdoor monster layout that people will not be interested. They are and we are.
What you say it is not as important as how you are saying it. Don't feel like you can't do it. Why do you think they invented Spell Checkers, Grammar Checkers, and Human Editors. (You should have seen this page before it got edited!)
When in doubt, send it in to us.
What's in an article?
Just like a train, your article needs a beginning, a middle and an end. Just like your railroad it needs a starting point, a route and a destination. One of the best ways to get started is to make a simple three point outline.
- Here is what am I going to talk about.
- Talk about it.
- Explain what you talked about.
Just pretend you are at one of your local Garden Railway Club meetings and you are explaining it to your members. Never assume that we know what you are talking about.
When in doubt spell it out.

Submitting your article
The article can be in any format. We prefer to get Microsoft Word documents, but can read anything.
You can email your article as an attachment to stories@largescaleonline.com
We will also need a biography of you and a head shot. Again please make sure the image is as large as possible and that is a close up of your face. (Like a drivers license, only we hope the picture is better.)
Photos
Photos can be submitted electronically. We prefer jpg format, and ask that you give us the largest size file you can. Please do not crop or reduce the image. We will do that here. If you can ZIP all files together, great. If you cannot please submit one picture per email. Please also provide a document with the file name and a one line description of the file.
If you cannot send electronic images you can send 3 x 5 prints to us at:
DMS
Attn: LSOL Photos
4595 E Highland Drive
Post Falls, ID 83854
We cannot return photos.
