disease and insect-infested branches. 2. Remove any branches that are detrimental to the shape of the plant. Remove branches that grow through the middle of the plant or that cross each other, resulting in damage to one or both branches. 3. Start pruning when plants are young. It is easier to prevent problems and maintain their natural shape if you start when plants are young.
